The Museum of Modern Art is open Sunday through Friday from 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM, and Saturday from 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM. The museum is closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

We recommend arriving early in the day to avoid the largest crowds. Saturday evenings tend to be less crowded as well, giving you extra time to explore the galleries at a relaxed pace.

Where is MoMA located?

MoMA is located at 11 West 53rd Street in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. The museum sits between Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue, making it easily accessible from many parts of the city.

The nearest subway stations are 5th Avenue/53rd Street (E, M lines) and 47-50 Streets/Rockefeller Center (B, D, F, M lines). Several bus routes also stop nearby, and the location is within walking distance of Central Park and Times Square.

How much are MoMA tickets?

Standard adult admission to MoMA is $25. Seniors aged 65 and over pay $18, and students with valid ID pay $14. Children aged 16 and under are admitted free of charge when accompanied by an adult.

Combo tickets that pair MoMA admission with other New York attractions are also available and can offer significant savings compared to purchasing individual tickets. Check our combo tickets section for the latest deals.

How long does it take to visit MoMA?

Most visitors spend between 2 to 3 hours exploring MoMA. However, art enthusiasts who want to see every gallery and exhibition in detail could easily spend 4 to 5 hours or more inside the museum.

If you are short on time, we recommend prioritizing the fifth and fourth floors, which house the most celebrated works including paintings by Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, and Andy Warhol. The sculpture garden is also a must-see and provides a peaceful break between galleries.

Is photography allowed inside MoMA?

Yes, photography for personal use is generally allowed throughout MoMA's galleries. You may take photos and videos using handheld devices without flash. Tripods, selfie sticks, and other stabilizing equipment are not permitted inside the galleries.

Some temporary exhibitions may have additional restrictions on photography. Signs will be posted at the entrance of any exhibition where photography is not allowed. Commercial photography requires advance permission from the museum.

Can I visit MoMA for free?

MoMA does not currently offer regularly scheduled free admission hours for the general public. However, children aged 16 and under always receive free admission when accompanied by an adult.

Members of MoMA enjoy unlimited free admission along with other benefits such as guest passes, store discounts, and priority access to exhibitions. Membership is a great option if you plan to visit the museum more than once a year.

Are combo tickets worth it?

Combo tickets are an excellent value if you plan to visit multiple attractions during your trip to New York City. Bundling MoMA admission with popular destinations like the Empire State Building, Top of the Rock, or the Guggenheim can save you a meaningful amount compared to buying each ticket separately.

Combo tickets also simplify your planning since you purchase everything at once. Many options include skip-the-line benefits, which help you avoid long queues during peak tourist seasons.
